It has got a point where we must be very alert as innocent lives are being lost to all sort of diseases and infections that can be managed in a way if proper awareness is created.

Just in the first month of 2016, over 30 people have perished from pneumococcal meningitis in the Ashanti, Northern,and Brong Ahafo region.

What is Pneumococcal Meningitis?

This is an infection caused by bacteria known as Streptococcus pneumonia (pneumococcus). This infection causes swelling and irritation(inflammation) of the meninges. The meninges are the membranes that cover the spinal cord and  the brain.
